Now that I've had the PL45 and PL25 for a little over a month I am surprised to say that I much prefer the PL45. IQ wise they seem nearly identical (with the PL45 perhaps being a bit sharper). The speed advantage of the PL25 has not been a big deal so far but the close focus ability of the PL45 has been huge for me. I also find it to be a pretty darned good lens for portraits. When I first got the lenses I was absolutely positive the PL25 was going to be my new best friend but it isn't. I love the fast AF and I don't find the larger size (relative to the P20) to be a big deal. In fact I think the PL25 balances well on my GX1, but the PL45 is definitely my favorite m43 lens...perhaps ever. I find this especially funny because I really didn't care for the O45 at all (either time I had it).

Right now I have the PL25, PL45 and a P14-45 on its way. It feels like a really complete set for my needs. I traded my P14 for the P14-45 because I found myself not using the P14 much and needing the flexibility of a zoom a lot more than I would have thought I would.

Here are a couple of my recent PL45 favorites...

    ...and one from the PL25.

    Seems like you're a macro/close up shooter. :)

Loved my Leica 45mm ....but I sold it to acquire my M. Zuiko 75mm....

The Leica 45mm definitely rocks!

Great shots - The pl45 is just not fast enough for me. I bought both the P20mm and the O45mm for the ability to use indoors in low light. The pl25 is an option for me eventually, but not the 45.

I loved my PL45, much more than the O45 for the reasons you mentioned. I just dont use that FL as much, so I have an FD 50 1.4 and an FD 50 macro, combined $100, but if I was a regular macro and 45mm shooter, the PL45 is just sweet. I agree the IQ of the two are similar, and I love that Panny's lenses share a filter size. For that alone, panny earned some lens loyalty from me!

I also have the same PL twins, though I rarely use the PL 45.

I do like closeup shots and I think that's the main reason for my preferring the PL45 to the O45.

You know, I would have thought the same thing but the PL45 does have OIS and so far I haven't come across anything where I wished I had the O45's additional speed. Then again I don't do much low light with the GX1 (I have the NEX for that) so I can see the extra speed being important.

Thanks for the compliment...you're welcome. We're all here because we like to make images so I figure sharing seemed like a good idea. I learn a lot from seeing what other folks do.
