Here's a few (to many) shots from a four day hike I undertook last week. We basically did a circuit linking two of Tasmania's central National Parks - the Walls of Jerusalem and Cradle Mt/Lake St Clair - with a major off-track section through a region of the Upper Mersey Valley known as the 'Never Never'.

All shots are chronological, to give you a bit of an idea of how the weather changed during the trip! I've never seen a late summer snowfall like this...

    Shot with the GH2, Nokton 25mm, Lumix 7-14mm and m.Zuiko 45mm

Mt Ragoona and the Blizzard Plain

Police Search and Rescue dropping in for a chat - a walker had called in with a broken leg and then disappeared...

    Lake Meston Hut

    Nothofagus gunii - 'Deciduous Beech'

    Pencil Pine detail

    Eucalypt sapling

The upper steps of Clark Falls

The beginning of the Never Never

    Junction Lake

    Reflections in Junction

    Coral Fern

Junction Lake campsite the next morning!

    Snow Gums

    Another young Eucalypt

    Junction in the morning light

Jen down by the Mersey River - start of the Never Never track

The final drop of Clark Falls

    Traveller Range

Feather Falls from the Never Never - these only flow after heavy rain and have a 50m+ drop!

Jen walking through Pinestone Valley on the Overland Track

    Mountain Rocket

    Deans Bluff in the background

The Du Cane Range looking angry

Awesome shots Nick. Love the way the light has that almost monochromatic look, not something we often have here.

Great stuff Nick. Love the total transformation visible from the deep lush green of the 'Fagus' the harshness of the "Jen walking through Pinestone Valley" image.
    Very enjoyable set.

Those are great shots. You are allowing many of us to see parts of the world we may never step foot on.

I've posted a link on my blog to your shots. It may not be up for a week or two.

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comments everyone, it's great to get some feedback

Unfortunately, as a result of a speck of snow getting on the sensor during this trip, my GH2 is currently spending a bit of R&R time with the lovely lads at Walch Optics in Hobart... Hopefully she'll be back keeping the Nokton company soon

The snow gums shot is sensational. I'd actually like to print that and hang it.

Looks like a nice hike. Seems the snow was no surprise. I appreciate your identification of the plants. Remember, never say never.
