The Last Oredock

Discussion in 'Scenic, Architecture, and Travel' started by noelh, Oct 1, 2011.

  1. The town across the Bay in which I work has one remaining ore dock. Demolition started this past week. Stopped on the way home for a quick recon. Mid-day sun not the ideal light. Clicked off a couple shots. Hopefully will be able to return under better conditions before too much demolition ruins the dock.

The city owns the dock. Luckily for the dock the lack of funds has delayed the tear down. Over the years due to no maintenance the dock has deteriorated to point of being unsafe. Too many chunks of old structure have occasionally broken loose. It use to be a cool place to fish off or just take a walk out for a nice sunrise or sunset view. For a few million $s it could be restored as a commercial pier housing shops, restaurants. There already exists an RV campground adjacent to the dock. A walking, biking path that runs the length of the town along the Lake runs right by the dock.
