One from today; Hawkins Mill pond which provided the water power for a sawmill and a mini-hydro plant back in 1926. Mr. Hawkins sold power to the 26 homes that made up the village of West Glocester (RI) until 1934. The mill and hydro station was torn down in 2017 as no funds were raised for the restoration; the decay of the multi-story stone buildings were a collapse hazard to the public.
