Bryce Canyon is the location of the world’s largest collection of hoodoos (irregularly-eroded rock spires) and is situated along the east edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau in south western Utah. The most iconic views are found along the rim of the Bryce Amphitheater and include Bryce, Inspiration, Sunset and Sunrise Points. Hoodoos are formed when thin walls of rock called fins are eroded through a process called frost-wedging. This process enlarges cracks in the fins creating holes or windows. As the windows grow, their tops eventually collapse, leaving a column. Rain further dissolves and sculpts these limestone pillars into bulbous spies called hoodoos. The balance between snow and rain ensures that new hoodoos will emerge while others become reduced to lumps of clay.

Did you get a chance to go down in the canyons? Incredible there!

Composite of two frames taken on the OM-3Ti camera on Kodachrome 64 with the OM Zuiko 24mm ƒ/3.5 shift lens, one frame shifted full up, the other full down, scanned on a Nikon 4000 and meticulously hand-stitched in Photoshop.

(Edit: found more pixels.)
