This question is a repost from the Pen F B&W thread that wasn't getting any response. I really love the monochrome SOOC jpeg's from a Pen F. Does anyone know if there is a way to deliver a similar 'feel' when using a M5-ll, or M1-ll? Other then buying a Pen F of course. Is there a way to set up the internal firmware or settings to achieve something similar? Thanks in advance. John

There are many different ways to set up monochrome in the EM-5 and EM-1, however, you will not find settings in camera or in post processing that will get you that 100% Pen F monochrome look. It's very specific to that camera. This video, however, does show how you can come close.

Raw file was converted to black & white in Lightroom and then Dehaze, Tone Curve, Clarity and Texture sliders were adjusted to taste. Also did a local adjustment on the left cat's face to tease some detail out from around its black mouth. I used the X100V's flip out screen to shoot from low to the ground in order to have a black background behind the cats. Also did local sharpening on the right cat's eyes.

Great shot! The black and white conversion works really well here.
