November 7, 2015: The chemical/oil products tanker, Vacamonte [IMO 9402691] heading out of Fremantle Harbour to anchor at Oil Refinery North Anchorage. She has been in and out of the harbour a fair bit in the last month or so I believe undertaking repairs. Today she was heading out pulling at least three “land mines” alongside her starboard side. I couldn’t see her port side so do not know if there where even more. I thought the Captain had shown poor seamanship initially as I spotted the lines hanging off the sides. It was only as she came alongside Rous Harbour entrance did I see the “land mines." My apologies to the Captain for misjudging his/her seamanship.

There also strong winds blowing today from Antarctica and of course I was facing straight into them ... coped a fair bit of spray which did not help with my meager attempts at photography.

November 8, 2015: Back down this afternoon to the Port to catch the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger, the River Bee [IMO 7349388] departing Rous Head Harbour, her next port of call, Bunbury, Western Australia. Early on the split hopper barge, North was towed out of the harbour, I suspect also heading south to Bunbury as she is used for dredging works.

November 9, 2015: I am pleased that I was able to at least get a shot of some description of the Fugro Discovery as she was in the local rag today. She is in port to resupply before continuing the search for the missing Malaysian Airlines plane, flight MH370 along with her sister ship, the Fugro Equator who is also in town. The West Australian is suggesting that the Fugro Discovery will complete the most promising search area for the missing plane by December 3, 2015.

I've been "off my feed" on photography lately, so I was going to pass on the challenge this month. But I miss you guys! So I hope it's not too late to join in.
I'll kick off with a few shots from the First Friday art fair here in Hilo to partially catch up. I'll try to submit at least a couple of times a week. This group is just too much fun to pass up.
I don't know if you Aussies have the First Friday tradition there. If you do, it's probably First Mondays. :laugh1: All the art galleries and coffee shops stay open late and there's music and wine and pupus (snacks). Everybody gets dressed up and walks around the streets visiting the galleries, eating and drinking. It's a good time.
This was one of my first "street shoots" and the first time shooting in town at night. I shot a lot of frames but didn't get a lot of keepers. I decided to experiment with post processing effects because it seemed to fit the subject. I'm satisfied that I got several decent shots out of it. Purists won't appreciate my "manipulations" but I had fun doing them.

Thanks for tolerating my lengthy post (if you have) :hide:
and I'll be more timely in the future. Aloha.

Waiting to fly home...

Kicking around the airport, taking a few shots and reviewing the last few weeks of photography, I realised that this camera/lens combo (by number of captures) is a clear favourite out of all my gear...
