Please post on this thread if you would like to do a meet up.

We will need a member from the region to take the lead on this.
The sister group is on the NY group thread.

Anyone Interested in a Boston Area meet?

    Hello All,

If you have interest in a Meet up in the greater Boston area.

Please post here. hyubie and myself are willing to begin organizing such an event.

I have a base plan which I'm currently fleshing out, that would include the ability to collaborate after the meeting to view images etc.

If you'd be willing to help in the org process, that would be wonderful as well.

Please send me a PM and I'll provide my email address and contact info.

    Thanks. Alan

Count me in. I think viewing images afterward is a great idea.

New England is a big place. Shouldn't this be the Boston Meet and Greet Group. Alas, I am banished to the further reaches of Maine and Boston is a serious trip as it would be for Vermont and most of New Hampshire.

    Hikari,
Slowly my friend. We are already doing New York, spreading to Boston....
In time we'll be all the way around the world.

Would you like to start a New England Meet Up Group?
Let me know and I'll set the threads ip.

Thanks Don, that is just me being jealous of city folk. Besides you would need to start a Maine group and I really don't need to sit in a room talking to myself.

Surely you jest. You mean a few hundred miles would stop you.
What the heck are ya gonna do when Bill makes the summer bar-b-que in Australia? Now that's a hike... But we're all gonna do it...

    Hi Amin,

Thanks. I think as long as there's interest, I'll be able to get it together with Hyubie.

I'll keep you right in the loop as soon as a have a first draft plan fleshed out..

    Thanks, Alan

    Hi Hikari,

We're just trying to be inclusive..... If you came, who'd be left in Maine?

For anyone south to RI, west and north of the city etc. Easy trip in on the MBTA is what I was thinking.

What a great idea! I currently live on the West coast, but grew up in the Boston area. I make it back for visits with family quite often and my next visit is during the 3rd week of May. I will keep checking the forum to see what you come up with!

Hey, it is a scary world when you cross that bridge from Kittery into NH.

Just as I thought. Maybe I will go to Freeport and hang out in L L Bean. If I see someone from away with an m4/3 camera, I will shadow them in the store and pretend to have a "meet up."

Well, I would have an interest in this. All depends on the timing. I can fly out from my home city at 6:30 and be in Boston by 1:00 with the current connections. Right now the last weekend in May is a no-go and there are a few work commitments, but I could likely swing it.

Thank goodness for Porter airlines, a small Canadian carrier the services my home town and Newark, Boston, Chicago through Toronto

    Possibel starting Point

    Hello All,

While I assemble a preliminary itinerary, I thought this might be a good site for folks to peruse. These folks offer a 90 minutes walking photo tour in Boston, for a very small fee. They do several locations, after a quick run through I'd probably favor Beacon Hill.

For example, as the tour is a mere 90 minutes, it would allow plenty of time after the fact for an informal gathering, City Hall Plaza in nice weather would be fine as an outdoor venue for example. For some light discussion etc.

Ultimately I'd like to locate a restaurant where we could gather for a late afternoon lunch / early dinner and discuss the days events.

I'd be able to put up a web site for our private use allowing us to upload our photos, and collaborate on our opinions and thoughts about the days shoot.

Early thoughts: Boston Photo Walking Tours, Guided Sightseeing Tour of Historic Boston, MA

I did think about it and looked at some flights but they're a 1000 bucks. I need to get a passport first or they mightn't let me go very far at all.
