Never even really thought about the value of the the electronic shutter/silent mode before, until when I was quietly checking on my daughter sleeping it dawned on me....

    GH3, 12-35mm ISO 800

Mapped the silent mode to a function button so it is easy to access, if the lens is wide open then there is ZERO sound, if you are stopped down then all you hear is the lens aperture closing. Not a bad job by the 12-35mm IS either, 30mm, 1/8sec, one handed, holding the camera at arms length over her playpen.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful child. Thanks for posting it. I need to try mapping silent shutter to a function button on my G5. Good idea.

Nicely done especially with those settings and one hand.

I've wondered if there is any negative side to using the silent electronic shutter? Thought about just leaving it on by default. I really don't need a sound to confirm my shots.

Ahh... I see. Thanks for the info. I'll just keep off until I need it then.
