Hello fellow mu-43ers!
I've been fortunate to be living close to one of the major tennis tournaments in the world and probably the most accessible of them (meaning, the tournament where there are least boundaries separating the players from the spectators). That tournament is the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA... previously known as Pacific Life Open...
I've been going there each year for 6 years already... I am a tennis nut and this tournament is the reason I got into photography...

Here are some photos from my previous visits shot with my s5

sir roger federer

this photo is a good representation of why this is called the most accessible tournament in the world:

that's roger federer, he was number 1 player in the world and I am sitting on one of the steps going to the court...

that's novak djokovic, the guy to beat this time of the year...:biggrin:

Now, I'm excited to take my E-PL1 to the tournament... I'll be there for four days and will be taking thousands of shots... I'll post photos here :smile:

Nice work! Great composition on shots 3-5. I love the intensity and focus on the 4th shot. Have fun at the rest of the tourney with the Oly!

WoW! Amazing shots jc_rex. Wish I was there too! Have watched the grand slams on and off during the past 5 years or so, but wasn't until last year that i really got into it and started some lessons too. Really wish I could watch a live tournament soon.

Agree with cbrock, shots 3-5 are awesome. Great job!!

thanks syilim! wow! cool that you're really getting into it! it's a fun sport to play... gets really addicting, especially after the first time you take a full swing at the ball and hit the sweetspot! what a wonderful feeling that is! :)

I see you've also taken Gasquet's picture. Along with The Fed's earlier ones, you now have 2 out of 3 of my favorite players, the other one being Justine Henin. Common factor? Backhands to die for.

I've seen Justine last year! too bad she's retired again :(

yeah, that backhand is to die for! the power that small body of hers generates is amazing!

kolschreiber's one hander is not too shabby either!

all time favorite backhand is safin's double hander

I'm not sure you'll see her playing again anytime soon :frown:

Greets from Justine's home country,
Rafael, who is actually more a fan of Kim

You're lucky to have two of the greatest players ever. Is it pushing it too far when I named my first daughter after her? Anyway, yes I was sad she had to leave for the second time, but we should just appreciate the times she gave us pretty special games (2003 US Open, vs Capriati has to be one of the best matches. Ever). Allez!

no it's not! Justine's a pretty common name, and a pretty one too! Not like my cousin who thought of naming his daughter Svetlana... they're not Russian at all!! :D

And I thought m4/3 was not for sports photography - these pictures prove that to be a myth!
