Love taking party portraits in clubs and outdoor parties. :) Here's pretty much the whole kit I'll need for low light event photo work. Maybe I'll bring along the 40-150 on odd occasions. I can swap out between the FL50r and FL36r depending on how open the space is. Also have a small softbox for the flash. Heck of a lot lighter than my old Canon F1 and flash night shooting rig.

    And with a 300 adapted....

    Very sexy indeed!

How's the grip? Please tell me it's terrible and a piece of junk - I really do not need to be spending more money (just got the Oly 9-18mm)

Love it. Works as good as everyone you ask will tell you. The only problem is the size....

Agreed. I really dig using the flash bracket - the effect on candids by moving the flash off the body with a diffuser is significant. My recommendation? the Oly factory cable isn't cheap but is designed for locking onto the flash bracket without an additional hotshoe mount. saves the weight of the flash from stressing and snapping a plastic hotshoe to hotshoe mount. (had that happen - ugh)

The HDL-6 grip is dreadful; truly horrible, disgusting and offensive. I'm going to keep mine mounted on the EM5 body 24/7 just so I can wear it out with overuse and finally be done with the hideous thing.

BTW, my pre-EM5 set-up was with the EP3. Fantastic for party shots. Light enough to lug around and still be able to have a blast at the event yourself.

Oh the grip is a horrible piece of junk! Or course I say that because I only have the grip and no camera yet. :frown:
