From my experiments in handholding longer lenses on E-PL2 without a VF:
Tamron SP 300mm f5.6 close focus
I'm not so good at hand holding this lens but it seems pretty sharp on a tripod. I use it to get close to skitterish dragonflies and such. Most shots need significant PP including contrast, clarity, and usually defringing (LR4 is so good at this that I acutally enjoy using this lens and the Oly OM 200mm 4.0 now).
Robber fly (I glad they're not ten feet long!)
Common whitetail dragonfly
Tamron 54b on my GH1.
Bellbird (Anthornis melanura) @f8.
PP in Aperture with Nik plugins.
