Our site automatically adds our affiliate code to any links made to thousands of online sellers. If you buy stuff online, chances are that you can help our site by clicking through a link before you buy it. Using our links means we get a small referral fee. Your price is unaffected.

To help, click any of the links below before making your purchase at the store indicated. If it seems that our link is a normal one (no affiliate code), rest assured that it will still work.

If your store of choice is not listed below, then simply post a reply to this thread with the link you plan to use for your purchase, then refresh the thread, click your link, and make your purchase. Nearly all stores will be affiliated automatically.

Anything you buy helps us. It does not have to be photography related. Kindle books, diapers, televisions, watches, film, DVDs, etc, you get the picture! One technical detail: you have to click the link on this site before putting the item in your shopping cart in your store of choice.

It's for games. Definitely overkill for what I do, but the kids like it as well and should last us a while!

I think this is a great idea, since we spend way too much with Amazon each year. I'm not clear on how this works. Will links be automatically altered by the forum software to include the affiliate's tag, or is there another method used? On a related question, is there a way to change my browser book mark to include your affiliate code so that you get credit even when I go there directly?

Yes, links are automatically altered to add the affiliate code. Please note that you may or may not see the link being altered when you mouse hover or click. It depends on the site. Just assume that the link is being altered as needed.

Thanks for asking! You can also directly bookmark the URL shown in the "Code" box below any of the following links and use that bookmark prior to purchase. If a small percent of our members consistently used our Amazon URL as a bookmark, we wouldn't need any ads, donations, or other sources of revenue.

hey Amin, this is a great idea. I wonder if you could perhaps make this a sticky thread somewhere or put a small banner/advert on the site so ppl will see it in future, when this thread might not be on the front page?

Thanks, Amin. I'm assuming that we can but do not have to go through this procedure if we're buying from one of your existing affiliates . But I'm guessing posting the link might still be helpful in terms of attracting other buyers. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, will this program be expanded to all of your sites?

Cool idea Amin. One question. The thing my wife and I buy more of from Amazon than about anything is Kindle books. They have this whole one click purchasing thing for that. Will that still work as long as we use a link from here to get to Amazon in the first place? If so, our Kindle purchases might just fund the site and put your kids through college - even the new one!

Another thought - I charge a lot of shipping through UPS online via their web-site. Could THAT work as well, even though it's not a retail operation???

It's true, but posting the link here helps remind others of this way to help the sites. Very few members use our affiliate links. The program is already in place on all the sites, although a thread like this only exists here. If it helps, I'll start a thread like this on the other sites as well.

Ray, definitely. In fact, they pay me a better percentage for Kindle purchases than they pay for cameras.

I just opened new tabs in my browser for Amazon and B&H from the bookmarks Amin posted above. I assume if I just leave them open and shop through those tabs, it'll work. Or, Amin, would I have to open the site from the actual bookmark each time I start the browser to make sure the code is in the URL???

Yes, that will work. You can also bookmark that address and use it to get to Amazon each time. As for links on this site, it would work even if the link just said:

because our site automatically adds the affiliate code to any Amazon link. However, if you're going to bookmark for use outside of this site, the URL has to include our code ("?tag=sco-us-20")

Ray, that won't work. The affiliated link expires after some period of time which depends on the particular merchant (Amazon, B&H, etc). You'd either have to click a link on this site prior to making the purchase (no code needed for a link on this site) or use a link that includes the code (eg, bookmark the URL with our code) if accessing the merchant without clicking on a link on this site first.

OK, good to know. I'll just stick bookmarks including the code on my bookmarks bar and use those...

Amin, does Amazon credit the site for purchases of Kindle books? (I realize that ordering from the Kindle store directly from an e-reader doesn't work because there is no link back to mu-43.com).

Kindle books are the thing I buy the most of online these days - in the last month I've purchased 23 (I got started on the 87th Precinct detective stories and munched on 'em like popcorn, along with a couple of I.T. tech books and Doris Kearns Goodwin's latest book on T. Roosevelt).

Usually I just buy 'em off of the Nexus 7 directly but can change my habits...

Jim, they do credit us for Kindle books, Amazon Instant Video rentals, downloadable MP3 purchases, Android app purchases, etc. Basically if Amazon sells it, we can get a referral credit. Thanks for asking!

Done! I use the Amazon Mobile app a lot, but there's no reason I can't go here to add items to my cart and check them out!
