I was just wondering what the rest of the world thought of this American entertainment/sporting event? What do non-Americans think of this event ... From the over-the-top half-time spectacle ... to the copious amount of monies to create the event ... to the majority of Americans glued to their sets and/or attending SB parties ... to the shear violence of the game ... to the genetically modified / human anomalies specialized to play the game ... ???

I'm pretty sure cycling is stuffed with genetically modified athletes, and worlwide football/soccer has far more money involved, and has even led to murder and stabbings.

I think we Americans think its a huge spectacle, but in global events, its not that big of a deal, it seems to me.

What kind of a reply are you expecting!? You could take this as far as football is the devil. Watching football is a hobby for most people. It is an excuse to have a social gathering. For some people, like me, it is nothing more than that.

Per the post, I really wasn't asking you, (as I am assuming you are an American living in Nebraska). I am wondering what what the Superbowl looks like through the eyes on non-Americans.

    I am just curious.

To American expats, it's a most talked about event. I feel you can't get them to shut up about it.. :p

American Football is far removed from anything in (east) Asia that I know of. Rugby would be more popular.

The Super Bowl to me in Korea and Hong Kong is just a bunch of rowdy expats in western bars yelling, drinking, and having fun. Nothing wrong with that but far removed from anything locals do.

However baseball and soccer (football) would be celebrated much more enthusiastically (but prob not on the same fanaticism as the spectacle of the Super Bowl. )

My opinion is it has the same energy level as a huge WWE wrestling match, and goofiness. A high energy event trying to take itself seriously though at times with a circus atmosphere

    just my 200 korean won.

watching it in belgium with my US born other half... got the choice of BBC and ESPN America coverage

I enjoy the game... when it happens..we dont get the ads...just the power cuts!!!

also have enjoyed the half time show in the past... though not tonight.... Prince is the only half time show I think actually nailed the purpose of the event

Eh? Hopefully Lewis doesn't kill any off the field this time.

Ads were lame too. Anyone see the God made a farmer paul harvey thing? Those HDR portraits made my eyes bleed in pain... everyone looked like they had skin made out of cellophane.
