Yes, and that's why the grip is probably a better buy than an additional big bodyUh wait, the 5.3 can do Sync-IS too! You may want to take that into consideration.
E-M5.3 + Grip + 12-100 should work well too
The EM1.2 and the 12-100 are a match made in heaven, not only because of the ergonomics, but the Sync-IS is amazing.

5-AXIS SYNC IS
Take Image Stabilization up a notch and pair the E-M5 Mark III with a stabilized M.Zuiko PRO lens. Our in-body system syncs with our in-lens system to provide 6.5 shutter steps of compensation — creating one of the world’s most powerful IS systems. You’ll have even more mobility to shoot all types of handheld images and take bright, richly detailed photos in low light. Be free from tripods and other stabilizing gear.
The reason for this appears to be that the gyro for the OIS turns on, when the camera is powered on, if the IS switch is on. So it is running all the time.
Not sure which camera you are referring if referring to one model specifically, but on my E-M1.1 + 12-100 PRO the IS only runs when you half press the shutter button. It is not running all the time.
Interestingly, the noise does not go away, when I turn the IS switch on the lens off.
So "something" is running in the lens.
Right, now press the shutter button and hold it. Does the noise go up a LOT more? And then you let go it gets quieter again?
The "something" is not the lens, it is the camera. Take the lens off the camera and try it again. Same noise and clearly with the lens not there it can not be the lens.
EDIT: on that last point I just realized an error in my thinking. If you take the lens off, then the camera defaults to the focal length setting as if you have a legacy lens attached where you dial in the focal length. So taking the lens off is not a good indication, since if you have your focal length set for, example, 135mm then the IS noise would be roughly the same as the IS noise for the 12-100 at 100mm. However my first point still stands (for now) that you definitely hear a much louder sound when you half press the shutter vs the camera just being turned on.
So I'm going to be going to London for a month in April. I'll be bringing my E-M5 MkIII with me. Currently, I have the following glass in my possession:
12-40mm f/2.8
17mm f/1.8
14-42 EZ
14-150 f/4-5.6 II
I've listed the 14-150 along with an E-M5 MkII with the battery grips in the Buy & Sell area, so I may not have that lens much longer. (someone buy that camera and lens from me!)
So for my trip, I'll definitely be taking the 17mm - I just bought it from another member here specifically for this trip, for 'indoor' shooting should I need faster glass.
My other lens choice would be the 12-40 as my 'walking around' lens. I LOVE this lens. I've had it since early 2014, and have used it on an E-M5, a MkII and now on my MkIII.
What I'm wondering now is if I should sell the 12-40 and pick up a 12-100. Would the extra reach be worth it for a trip to a city like London? Would I miss that extra stop (mind that I do intend to shoot video, so the IS in the lens won't really help with exposure in that regard), and would the size and weight be worth it?

As someone who lives in London, and try to take pictures both during the day and night of various places, my suggestion would be:So I'm going to be going to London for a month in April. I'll be bringing my E-M5 MkIII with me. Currently, I have the following glass in my possession:

I'm more of the mind that since I already have the 12-40, going through the hassle of selling it and buying a 12-100 might just not be worth it. I'm also really trying to shift to 'using what I have' in more than just photography. I'm reasonably sure I won't miss much if I don't have the 40mm+ range available to me.
