I use Olympus Micro 4/3 DSLR (EM-10) and have one of their hot-shoe mounted flash units (FL36R) that I need for a conference I have been asked to take some photos of some of the speakers.

What is the best (as far as flash recharge time) of the current non-rechargeable AA batteries? It has been a while since I either (1) used the flash or (2) bought batteries for it.

    Thanks.

I'd recommend CR-V3 lithium batteries. Each one fits in like two AAs and provides much more power than any AA I've used. Much easier to handle as well if needing quick changes.

For long term reliable rechargeable batteries instead I highly recommend Eneloop 3rd generation batteries. They hold a good charge for a very long time & work really good in those flashes.

Eneloops are all that I use with my flash, but for emergency, disposable, batteries, the CR-V3s are unbeatable.

How long do the lithium batteries last in storage?

I've got a really old set.

I have some that are years old now and still on full charge. I tested them before my first post here. How long they would actually last if put to use, I don't know, but no point in throwing them out.
