Had a short business trip and ended up visiting the stone masonry high school in Pučišća on the island of Brač, Croatia.

The island of Brač is famous for its white stone, which is one of the most appreciated construction materials. It's used for construction of famous buildings and monuments, including but not limited to Diocletian palace in Split, the lobby of the UN building as well as many other churches and palaces.

The school operates, under various names and masters, back from 1909.
Currently, there are around 80 students, mostly from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of that number, there are currently three female students.

The place Pučišća (the english pronunciation would be Pusicscha) is, unlike other tourist-y places on Brač, not overrun by tourists. Mostly due to it's long industrial history. Most of the inhabitants are, in one way or another, connected to the stone industry or stone masonry.

Interesting note: the headmaster corrected us when we referred to the stone being dug. He said the people in the place refer to stone as a living being, and it is being "picked" (like a fruit). Who knew...
