I couldn't resist trying out the movie function on my E-P2. I've been watching this spider for a few weeks now and have taken many still shots using various macro lenses, but usually during the night time. Yesterday it was a pretty calm day with good lighting when I noticed a stink bug flew into the spiders web. I ran into the house and grabbed the E-P2, and it was as if the spider waited for me to get set-up. The front of the lens was about a foot from the spider, and even though it was a calm day, just a slight breeze and the movements of the insects was enough to to throw it out of focus at times.

The link takes you to the movie on Youtube.

E-P2 + mZuiko 40-150 zoom + Nikon T6 close-up lens mounted on a Bogen 3205 GN tripod, Bogen 3130 G fluid head, and an Olympus OM focusing rail.

but it is quite amazing what the possibilities are with the video capabilities in modern cameras.

The 'art' of moviemaking is very different from the 'art' of photography... though they do share some common ground

Sammyboy, wonderful video-- thank you. "Poor stink bug" is right. It is amazing how meticulously and securely the spider wraps him up in his web.

Yeah, the spider's performance in the leading role was great ...... but I can't say much about the character in the supporting role.
