Early in the season this one couldn't wait for the pollen to be presented, so 'he' ripped open the sacs and raided the daisies, aggressively. Must have been hungry.

Trigona, much prized for its honey by the native Aussies.

Some interesting shots of that bee.
I saw another bee today (& have done previously) that I believe is also native. I'm going to have to get a photo of one of them yet.

I was trying to find a link to one & this person has lots of bees. This is what I saw today http://www.flickr.com/photos/kasia-pics/3413275233/in/gallery-29697818@N03-72157622855917002/ & others from this person Eastern Australian bees - a gallery on Flickr There are several native bees to found if we're lucky & this is an interesting collection that I would aspire to achieving similar.

Hi Ross. Pity the owner of those images doesn't post any more. Most of those bees I see where I am too.

Some here https://www.mu-43.com/f54/masked-bee-37338/ and here https://www.mu-43.com/f54/my-beautiful-babes-34619/ Too many to post in fact.

I don't often find them on flowers, but at dusk or dawn near where they mate and nest, often roosting on a dried out grass stem with just enough light to make use of ambient.

Beautiful bee, I like the shininess of its black back in the last picture.
    What was your lighting/flash?

Ah, thanks Mark. I thought I recognised your handiwork. I found all your latest threads on the Australian forum (where I also go under the my same name). I'll go through them all (when I can with the business of Christmas with family staying over) as I love to see more of the bees & I know you get some wonderful shots with your setup.
