Took the kids for a hike the other evening at our local county park. It's a lovely place with many miles of trails and numerous lakes and ponds. I do a lot of my running there. I restricted myself to the 100-300 as I wanted to get some run time with it. The evening light was great. Up here in Minnesota, the buds were just barely starting to show on the trees.

We found a big snapping turtle:

For me it's an image like that and I feel that the money for the lens was well spent :2thumbs:.

Far out man. This is brilliant. Each one of your pictures are great but this is the best I've seen. Big pat on the back for this one.

Excellent shots! How do you like the 100-300mm so far? I'm thinking about selling my 45-200mm and getting that one instead.

A very nice set showcasing both the reach obtainable with that lens and the control that can be exerted over it. OIS obviously living up to its name there too.

A lens that promotes creative photography, the final arbiter of glass.

Gotta get me one of those.

I haven't used it enough to render a comprehensive review, but from what I've seen, it's MUCH sharper than my 45-200 was at the longer end. I'm happy with it. As others have reported, the OIS is amazing. I took a 100mm shot of my daughter in the house just playing with it when I got it at 1/15th of a sec and it looks great.
