Spiders (and other Arachnids)

Would be cool to document their glowing eyes.

But as a borderline arachnophobe, the thought of discovering my path strewn with spiders does not fill me with fascination.

I have a couple of species here in France that display this trait. I'll try and think of a way to get a photo. I see them on the lawn at night occasionally. but for the life of me I can't remember what species they were - I'll be out tonight with a torch now you've reminded me,,,

Hello Phil,

Thanks. I like the way people share their knowledge on this forum. Both technical and considering the things they like to photograph. Have been shooting images of insects for a long time (Since Minolta Dimage5), was always frustrated that I could not get close enough ... Then discovered M4/3 and that has revived this hobby since last month. Most of the stuff I shoot is from our garden, living in the rather open landscape in the SW-part of the Netherlands

Looks like a slightly confused flower crab spider... maybe something about your car suggests that it attracts lots of bugs?

Pro Tip for spiders: when one of us hairless monkeys starts poking a piece of glass at you, it means you probably aren't as invisible as you think you are...

"Murder on the frontdoor"

I found this little jumping spider and its prey on the glas on the inside of our frontdoor. Because of the not so interesting background I used flash and a diffusor to try and get a sort of high-key effect.

The fly tried to get away but the spider would not let go. After the shoot I put them in the garden where the spider could enjoy his meal.
