Fred couldn't believe his luck - he'd finally met the girl of his dreams, and she'd not only asked him for coffee back at her place, but he was going to get a piggyback there, too!

"Murder on the frontdoor"

I found this little jumping spider and its prey on the glas on the inside of our frontdoor. Because of the not so interesting background I used flash and a diffusor to try and get a sort of high-key effect.

The fly tried to get away but the spider would not let go. After the shoot I put them in the garden where the spider could enjoy his meal.

Got one picture before he/she ran. Then realised my lens was set to f4.5.

The KItchen Spider

(a little Zoletes species I found in my sink, and to whom I gave the sponge as a life-raft :))

Actually it was in the garage.
But looking again closely at that second image,
they look more like spider's legs being tangled up and devoured.
Are they cannibalisitic?

I think I can even see a pedipalp in there... looks like maybe a Steatoda sp (aka "house spider")? Cellar spiders are known to be quite adept at eating other spiders, but I've mostly seen them eating crane flies. Nice catch, for both of you! :D
