So my wife and I just got back from a weekend trip to Atlantic City. Nice place to visit but unlike Vegas, I don't think it's a place I would necessarily want to visit on any regular basis. Just wanted to share a few tourist shots I took with my OM-D. As always, C&C's are welcome.

My take on the Korean War Veteran's Memorial statue...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219213901/" title="Veteran by yekimrd, on Flickr">"800" height="600" alt="Veteran"></a>

The Absecon Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and 3rd tallest in the country...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8220295620/" title="Absecon by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Absecon"></a>

We climbed all 228 steps up...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219214571/" title="Up by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Up"></a>

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8220295840/" title="Spiral by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Spiral"></a>

Stopping for a photo op while catching our breaths...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219215539/" title="228 by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="228"></a>

I did get a nice view from the top of the lighthouse. It was extremely windy (and cold) so I only managed a few shots...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219214915/" title="Revel by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Revel"></a>

Sunday mass at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219215825/" title="Nicholas by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Nicholas"></a>

They quickly turned off the lights after mass and before I could get close to the nave, hence the B&W conversion...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219215725/" title="Romanesque by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Romanesque"></a>

Then we went to visit Lucy, the 6-story elephant architectural structure...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8220297068/" title="Lucy by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Lucy"></a>

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8220297172/" title="Behind by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Behind"></a>

A peek through Lucy's right eye, which the tourist guide referred to as her "good eye"...
    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yekimrd/8219216043/" title="Ophthalmus by yekimrd, on Flickr">"600" height="800" alt="Ophthalmus"></a>

Yes, we did some gambling (mostly slot machines) but I didn't dare take any shots inside. Was too afraid of security...

Caught a shot of the sunset from the boardwalk before packing up and heading home...

Mikey, the first shot of the Korea war memorial is a masterpiece.

    Thanks.

The first is brilliant, and I also like the last.

I think #6 would have worked better with a longer lens, without all the stuff in the foreground, concentrating on that great sky, and the sky's reflections in that glass building - just my taste.

    Thanks for sharing.

Great set - I particularly like the shot through "Lucy's Right Eye" - great perspective. I haven't been back out to the Shore since Sandy. Looks like not much lasting damage at AC. Sounds like LBI and points north got the brunt of it.

Hmm.. I'm looking at my CPU screen (I uploaded these with a Mac) and I'm seeing some overcooked contrasts in pics #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11. Oddly, enough, on Flickr (where I copied the image link from), everything looks fine. And I've never had this issue before. Does anyone know if images are modified again on repasting on Mu-43?

Thank you very much!! I always greatly appreciate an honest and thoughtful critique. I completely agree. I did consider switching to my 75/1.8 except 1) I wasn't sure if the larger barrel would've fit between the railings, and 2) I was afraid of losing my lens caps from the strong gusts of wind. I do think my 60/2.8 (if only I remembered to bring it) would've done a better job.

Thanks! Along the beach from my hotel room, the damage that Sandy did was obvious but I couldn't tell from walking along the boardwalk.

#3 and #11 are fantastic. Why no pictures of the boardwalk?

My screen show these as OK, calibrated with Spyder 3, or at least they look well processed.

The horizon is out by 0.5 degrees on the last image, apart from that it's perfect.

    Great set of images.

Thank you for your kind words!

I do have some pictures of the boardwalk except with it being winter, they didn't have a boardwalk feel (i.e. people in winter jackets don't really scream beach). Lemme me go back to see if any are worth posting.

Thank you big time for checking into my concern -- that makes me feel better. Re: the horizon, haha, I honestly just eyeball it and try not to be OC. I tend to take multiple frames and throw away those that are obviously uneven and go for the most even-looking one.

HELP! Which sunset photo should I keep?

Need help deciding which sunset photo is better: this or #13 from the original post? I personally like #11 better (pros: sun still visible, has a flying bird silhouette in it vs. cons: horizon a tiny bit uneven, far right building cropped off in an odd fashion) but would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Great shots Mikey - I really love the Korean War memorial, inside view of Lucy the elephant's eye, and the final sunset shot. You did a great job of capturing some cool detail shots that are interesting & unique and not at all touristy.

Oh and FWIW I like the original sunset better, with the red-orange ball of sun :)

A few years ago I was asked to retouch a London skyline shot taken from a small aircraft. The client wanted a red horizon as if the sun had just gone down, but the shot was taken just too late, dark blue horizon. Using a grad filter layer it was easy enough to put the red glow in, but something was missing. I added another grad layer going the other way which added the minute reflections on the buildings, harldly noticeable but it made the picture. If you look at #11 you can see those reflections and that's what makes this image, the tiny specs of colour.

Thanks, Jay! And thanks so much for the input on which sunset image is better. I really like the original one better except a friend of mine on Flickr likes the other one which made me think. Hehe..
