Took my family to the second game of the Red Sox - Yankees double header yesterday. They called for possible thunderstorms. At the price of those tickets (second hand), I was relieved that the weather was very nice!

The guy who stole the show was Pedro Ciriaco, promoted from the minor league Pawtucket team for this game after Dustin Pedroia went on the disabled list Thursday with a thumb injury. He got 4 hits with 5 RBI in his first 4 at bats, and stole third before scoring. He also made some great defensive plays contributing to the Red Sox' first win in the past 6 games. It was a lot of fun with the crowd chanting "Pedro, Pedro". Felt like a "Linsanity" moment. Hopefully he'll get a chance to prove himself some more.

I got a shot of Jeter and Cano talking to the new guy after he doubled on his 3rd straight hit of the game, probably telling him to slow down :

You just helped convince me that my next tele-zoom shall be the 100-300mm after I received my dud 45-175mm that I have to return...

You're just lucky you spent your 75/1.8 on the second game and not the first, lol (assuming you're a Sox fan).

LOL. I was regretting that choice when I saw the weather reports, but in the end it turned out that we were lucky.

I grew up in NY in a family of Yankee fans, but I never watched baseball so wasn't really a fan myself. Now I'm nominally a Red Sox fan but still don't care much about the sport. My older son is a Red Sox fan, and my little one has chosen to join his grandparents and uncle as a Yankees fan. He was sorely disappointed by the loss .

Here's the three of us at the game:

Sure a new lens is nice, but time with the family is priceless.

Nice Shots, especially picture #4 of David Ortiz. He's trimmed down somewhat this season. He doesn't look as monstrous as he did between 2003 and 2008. I think your photographic skill did him justice on the way he looks: He looks normal now. :0

A bitter Yankee fan from 2003

Yes, I figured that your wife took the shot.. nice shots of the game.. I just sold my 100-300.. kinda regret it after seeing your shots.. did you use a beanbag or were they handheld?

These were handheld mostly with my older son leaning his head against my right arm making it harder to hold still. I think I noticed that you sold more than one nice bit of gear lately...

Very nice photos. I am finding that I really like the 100-300mm. Looks like quite a crowd at the game.
