Shot a few Soviet-Era lenses today after getting them back from being cleaned and re-lubricated with modern grease. I also shot a Super Takumar 28mm 3.5 as a control to measure against.

    Super Takumar 28mm f3.5

Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 135mm f3.5

    Mir 1v 37mm 2.8

Mir 10a 28mm 3.5 (this lens surprised me- almost "paints" the image!)

This time out, I used the Sony A77 instead of the m4/3'rds body (previously used the OM-D and the GX1) and performance was very close, edge going to the A77 due to focus peaking.. as long as you use a good M42 -> :43: adapter (ie, Novoflex or Photodiox) you can expect good results with :43:.

Nice. I have an Industar 61L/D for LTM that I love on my E-PL1. Good glass is good glass; it doesn't matter where it's from.

Photos look good! What aperture were you using? What do you mean by "paints" the image?

Hard to say- due to the two "preset" aperture that the Mir's have.

I set the aperture for F16, then use the second aperture ring to get the shutter speed I want in the viewfinder. Then focus using the enlarge :)43:) or focus peaking (Sony Alpha).

Beautiful slightly soft rendering and soft colors. Makes me want to hit some flea markets and camera shows.
