A few pics from my trip to Bangkok for Songkran, and test run of my new EM-1 and 12-40, a bit of a teaser for my review of my new system.

Brutal C&C encouraged. I am always trying to improve...

All super shots! Girl in number 8 looks a bit sad and doesn't fit with the mood of the others :-(

4 and 10 are fantastic portraits. Numbers 5, 6 and 7 are my favourites although I'm curious about 9 - is he selling soapy water?

The girl in 8 had just been shot in the back of the head with ice water - I was trying to catch that moment, but just missed it.

9 - He is selling ice water - if you spend any time at Songkran, you will learn to hate the guys selling ice water. I cursed them many times...

I quite like 7 - especially seeing as the guy in red and white (middle on the right) is about to get hit with ice water from the guy behind him...

Thanks for the comments!

Ice water... sounds nasty :)

What's the cream-coloured stuff in the buckets? Is it soapy or clayey water?

I love the fact that despite the excitement, the buyer in Number 7 is still handing over the cash in the proper respectful manner :)

The creamy stuff is a powder that gets mixed with water, so it ends up kind of like a creamy clay, which then gets smeared on random peoples faces. Particularly the one that just got you with ice water. It's all good fun, and everyone understands the "give and take" nature, so if you dish it out, you need to man p and take it on the cheek when someone stretches out a hand covered in wet powder! 11, 12 and 13 are prime examples!

It is seriously the best "New Years" party I've ever been to. And it goes for 3 days!!!

Well worth it! I'm trying to work out how to get back for next year! Young and old, they all get involved! The number of times a sneaky little old lady in a food stand got me with ice cold water behind the ear is ridiculous, and those fearless 7 year old girls who just keep charging you, with what seems like an infinite supply of water drawn straight from the humidity in the air...

I loved it.
