If you are shooting with your GH2-3 in AVCHD it's difficult to see your video if just loaded onto your computer without uploading it direct to an editing program. But now comes ClipWrap, a $50 or so program. OPen it up and move your AVCHD "private" file into a window, hit the convert button and the program wraps your files and makes it a .mov file which is just click and play in QuickTime. And no I don't work for them, I'm an old goat struggling to make movies and this makes my attempts much easier

    ClipWrap isn't really new.
But I've found it very useful.

    Another free solution

I think handbrake can convert AVCHD to other formats. And it is free. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Not really required...just use vlc for viewing and skip this

For imovie...I find the quality not good when using wrappers...I've not tried clipwrap but others...and various demux and mux so that imovie will import...gave up in the end and went back to adobe for better quality and direct avchd import
