I wrote my initial impressions of the new Olympus 45mm f/1.8 lens in a casual night walk around the streets of Japan.

    Here are a few samples:

Really loving this new lens. I reckon it's a contender for the crown of 'must-have small lens' which the 20mm currently holds.

Great write up and photos!!! I enjoyed going through all of them. Just makes me want the 45/1.8 even more. And the delay for its arrival here in the US is killing me!! Same thing with the PL25. Frustrating!!!!

How is the E-P3/45mm combo at shutter speeds of 1/15 - 1/30th w/ IBIS? Thanks!

Great pictures, as always. BTW, being interested in all things Japanese, I have been a fan of your blog for a long time.

I just asked my aunt in Tokyo to order one for me from Amazon.co.jp. I'll be going there next month, so I'll pick it up then. Even with the exchange rate, it's still a discount.

The people who already have, ordered in Japan, for sure.

We, europeans, have to wait :frown:

The best you can do is to pre-order from Amazon.de, cheapest price in europe, € 273,00, but have to wait arround 1 month.

I don't know how it is in Italy, but in Portugal, if we import from Japan, we get a lot of taxes and duty delay. Import this lens from Japan would cost more than € 450,00 and would take more than a month to arrive.

    Lucky US guys

Sure you can! I found it on amazon.de but I still have to wait about 1 month for shipping....

You can also get it from Digitarev.com, the same folks (Kai) that do the entertaining video reviews. Shipped to the US for about $450 according to one of the members of this forum. $50 over retail doesn't sound too bad to have it "first". :)
