I'm taking a short vacation in the RMNP. What a superb place! Truly stunning scenery. Here are a few images that I've captured over the last few days. All with the E-M1 and one of the Panasonic zoom trifecta (7-14, 12-35 and 35-100).

    Elks
I was lucky enough to encounter a herd of Elks at Sprague Lake. Beautiful creatures and quite happy to hang around for photos to be taken :) :

    Sprague Lake
Spraque Lake is a beautiful place. It's not a natural lake, having been created by a certain Abner Sprague who setup a resort in the early 19th century. A man ahead of his time.

Just along the way from Bear Lake. The contrast was very high when I was there (mid morning), so I decided to convert them to monochrome.

Great captures, well done Paul! That moonset picture is at Moraine Park if I'm not mistaken. Large herds of elk usually gather there this time of year, quite spectacular.

How are the fall colors up there right now? I'm fortunate enough to live about a 1.5 hrs drive from there and I'm thinking about going up this upcoming weekend.

Should also try Brainard Lake for moose sightings.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

@budeny@budeny - thanks I'll try that. Would be nice to see some mooses!

@DenverDutchman@DenverDutchman - yes, that's Moraine Park. Wonderful place. I expect to hear Dvorak's New World Symphony whenever I see this place! Fall colours looking great. See posts below.

    Here are a few more...

    Aspen Trees

I love the bark on these trees and the colour in the autumn is stunning:

Love the Elk in the water and also the shot with the big driftwood or whatever it is in the foreground.

Wonderful images Paul. I'm so jealous. I was there a couple years ago. I was all prepared for wildlife with my Sony gear with the 70-400. Seriously in the week I was there, I saw squirrels and one deer licking dried soda off a picnic table. That was it. Never the less, a spectacular place even without the wildlife.

That's a real pity. I don't know why, but there were elk everywhere these past few days. There was a herd that seemed to come down to Sprague Lake pretty well every morning.

I'm not really into wildlife photography TBH. The longest lens I had with me was the Panasonic 35-100. Thankfully the elks were placid enough that I could get close enough at 100mm.

You should try to get back there at this time of the year - it seems it's the ideal time.

I must say I was surprised when I saw you shot those with the 35-100. I was expecting the 100-400. Well done.

Stunning work. You've certainly mastered all the elements of making an outstanding photograph. And as a bonus feature, no ugly watermarks!! A pet peeve of mine.

OK - A few final shots:

    Roads

The roads are pretty spectacular. Here are a few:

Rock cut - Route 34/Trail Ridge Road - near its north west corner and close to the highest point at 12,500 feet.

The Old Valley Road - a spectacular dirt road, open only July-Sept. One way with precipitous drops in some places. Calm driving required:

Thanks for looking and for all your kind words.

...very nice shots. Are you using filters on your 7-14mm lens for the long exposure water shots? If so, what are you using to attach filters to the 7-14mm pana lens?
