EDIT: Issue resolved, see post by Dennis below.

I've a black Olympus 45mm on order, and of course it doesn't come with a hood.

The ratings on the Olympus hood aren't all that great (on Amazon), but neither are the 3rd party hood ratings.

And, of course, all of the hoods I've seen listed are silver :frown:.

Anyone have a recommendation on a hood for the 45mm?

(Having blown the budget by purchasing the lens, a reduced-price-but-effective 3rd party lens would be preferable. I haven't given the Princess of the Exchequer the good news about the new lens yet. ).

    I have some rattle-can black paint so I can...ummm..."modify" a silver hood.

    Regards,

    Jim

Try this. I've used their other hoods at various sizes and they're exactly what I wanted.

I know you can get those nifty vented hoods in 37mm readily for under 5$ shipped via eBay. Retro rangefinder look?, maybe not what your after. The heavystar hoods are great quality.

As long as you realise that the hood shown above is no where near as effective, as a hood, as the original then it should be OK as a protector for the front element. It's designed for the 12-14mm mark. The much deeper 45mm hood is better for protection against flare etc....

Me. I'd rather get the 45mm JJC hood and then either spray it black or just put a couple of stickers on it to "fancy" it up.
