Nik Snapseed, photo editing software for mobile devices as well as Windows and Mac, is now available for both Android and iOS (previously no Android version) and is free on <strike>all platforms</strike> all mobile platforms (previously $4.95 on iOS).

You can get it in the Apple Appstore or Google Play Store.

More information here: Snapseed | Snap it. Tweak it. Love it. Share it.

Correction: This post previously said Snapseed was free on all platforms. The Mac and Windows versions still cost $19.99 each. Only the iOS and Android versions are now free. [Thanks cookme]

this is a great app, probably the best image processing app for mobile devices. I paid for it on iOS, but took advantage it being free on Android for my Note II.

Snapseed has been free on and off several times. I've used quite a few of the apps that are comparable and, IMHO, Snapseed is the best of the bunch. None are the equivalent of using Lightroom or a similar program on a desktop with a large, color-calibrated monitor, not even close, but (again, IMHO) Snapseed is the category leader here. Get it while you can. :2thumbs:

Since the current version of Snapseed is now free I wonder if they will be bringing our a Pro version, albeit more expensive, like the Filterstorm's pricing structure? Real RAW? It is amazing what is happing to the photog's iPad/tablet world.

it's still 19.99 for OS X and Win, unless it's just a delay on pricing update...

Snapseed is my #1 app for all my processing... The new features are very welcomed! I bought a year + ago... Nice that it is free for the tablets/mobiles... Would make switching to an android pretty easy decision now.

It's been free quite a few times since it was introduced, for short periods. I don't think being free necessarily signals anything.

It's true. It's been free before. But the language in their update notes *seems* to indicate that it's going to be a free app going forward.

But I agree with you: I don't think it necessarily indicates anything.

Guess it's time to upgrade my old 2010 DROID Incredible :frown:
    I get:
"This app is incompatible with your Verizon HTC ADR6300."
Think I may go iPhone 5 this time around.

The pricing strategies and rationales for apps (both iOS and Android) completely baffle me.

I managed to score Snapseed for iOS when it was free during a promotional period. Great app.

I'm not sure if I like the current Google+ Snapseed branding. Why can't it be simply Google Snapseed? Why can't it just remain Snapseed? You don't see Facebook Instagram or Microsoft Skype being thrown around.

Soon we're going to start using eBay PayPal?

Not everything must be branded, even if there is a need to brand, use a generic one. What if Google+ ends up a dud? Another rebrand from Google+ Snapseed to Google Snapseed?

    [/end rant]
