I have a little bird bath in the back yard and with it being 103 F here today, I have to put water in it at least three times a day. Some of the water loss is due to evaporation, but most is due to these little blue birds freaking out and splashing around in it. The buzzards don't seem to mind the heat at all.

Good images. I am sure if the buzzard could see the bird bath, he would be thinking about "hors d'oeuvres".

What a juxtaposition! Yikes that buzzard is scary looking, even though I think they usually prefer their meals after the life has gone out of them....nevertheless, I do find them creepy. The little ones are beautiful and endearing - I wonder what they are with those bright blue wing bars and feathers? Maybe a Vireo?

The little blue birds, I don't know, but they have come out everywhere after the last hay cut a couple of weeks ago. Plenty of bugs to eat I guess.

The turkey vultures/buzzards are interesting since they are so great at flying around without flapping their wings. They are very graceful in the air, but up close are not pleasant looking at all. Local legend has it they will take live rabbits and small dogs when hungry, but some say that's not true and all they eat are dead. They sit out in the dead tree by one of my stock tanks a lot since it's the highest point around I guess. Three of them are out there right now on the old dead tree as the sun rises.

Thanks Ricky. I like the way you photograph your part of Texas very much. You're building a real photographic diary.
