The result of my MF practice with the old non-SWD 43 50-200 lens (which I am using instead of the 75-300 because of the low light levels and the need for high shutter speeds to capture highly active small birds.

All the images were taken at Birnie Loch local NR.

    E-M5    ---    147mm    f/3.2    1/500s    ISO 800

    E-M5    ---    169mm    f/3.3    1/250s    ISO 1600

    E-M5    ---    169mm    f/3.3    1/250s    ISO 1600

    E-M5    ---    200mm    f/3.5    1/400s    ISO 1600

    E-M5    ---    137mm    f/3.2    1/640s    ISO 200

(A focus peaking near miss - I switched from that method later on)

    E-M5    ---    200mm    f/3.5    1/640s    ISO 3200

    E-M5    ---    92mm    f/2.9    1/640s    ISO 1600

The 50-2200 is a great lens and I am really unwilling to give it up even though its AF performance is torpid and hesitant at best.

You got some great shots in spite of the challenges with the lens, Andrew. I love the expression in #1, and #4 is adorable.

Same reason I won't get rid of mine. It's the only reason I still keep a 4/3 camera body around, yet I can tolerate the painful AF on m-4/3 in most situations (but not all).

Those are some beautiful shots, Andrew. I especially like #2, #4 and #7.
