I'm not really a nighttime photographer, but it's the only time I can get out especially with a 1 and 4 year old constantly taking up all my attention during the waking hours! So all of these were shot while I was half asleep. o_O Plus I've gotten too lazy trying to capture the "decisive moments" when it comes to people. It's a lot more relaxing setting your camera on timer while watching your back from 5150s going loco on you on a smelly LA street corner.:p

    E-M10 and the 14mm and 25mm:

Well done! I appreciate your comments too... having a 2, 3 and 5 year old definitely makes it hard to find time to go out and shoot. I will have to try more night stuff :)

Thanks! Yeah it definitely makes it hard when you want to go shoot, but have to attend to the little ones first! Though if I'm not shooting other subjects, I'm usually taking pictures of my kids! ;)

Thanks! I need to pick one of those up. Joby makes one that folds up nicely to fit a gadget bag.

I hate lugging tripods, but this setup is great for minimalist shooting. Post photos once you get to use it! ;)

Nice! Just remember to turn off IBIS when using the tripod or else it gets all wonky! ;)

Nice series Jonathan. I have one of the Manfrotto PIXI, not as heavy duty as the Pedco, but it was just about free so it's hard to complain.

To be honest, the Pedco is pretty lightweight and compact. Though the ballhead and tripod feet are very sturdy and well made. It definitely punches above its weight!

Jonathan go back to sleep or drink more coffee. :coffee-30:  Heavy duty not heavy. PIXI is only rated for 2.2 pounds, your Pedco says 6 pounds.

I really like those shots, Jonathan... my years living near LA I never really saw photogenic cityscapes, which was obviously my mistake!

Many of the popular spots in LA have been photographed quite a bit. It's actually forcing me to really delve into the city's less glamorized areas to find photo ops. Unfortunately some of these areas aren't the safest!:D
