It was on Skyline Drive I first understood "purple mountain majesties". One of my favorite places to shoot.

If I'm not mistaken, #2 and #4 (and maybe the others) were shot at Ravens Roost, just south of I-64, right?

Well done. I miss living near the Blue Ridge Parkway. (Used to live near Richmond, VA) :frown:

I live about 14 miles away from the BRP part about ride it about twice a month during the summer. The views are just stunning. I don't take many pictures because i hate stopping on the bike.

The drive was packed with Bikes on Sunday DRD. With and without trailers!

Thanks Bert, But none of these were at that overlook. We didn't go that far south. I think the first one was at Shenandoah, and the second one was at ... I have forgotten. The fourth one (the dead tree), I have no idea - I just called it Dead Tree Overlook. But I do know that #2 and #4 were NOT at the same overlook. And since we didn't go as far south as 64, it couldn't have been. Good guess though.

I like the last one. I am always fascinated by serious looking weather clouds and the tree is very interesting.

Good stuff, Tom. I have been there only once in Fall, Spring looks equally promising as well. I hear Shenandoah is filled with cicadas. Did you have a tough time cleaning your car later?

I didn't hear any cicadas Veeresh, but "Shenandoah" covers a lot of area. The most significant factor in the spring is the color (green) that works so well for IR.

I must have bad information then :(. A friend asked me to avoid Shenandoah valley (esp skyline dr) because of cicadas. Thanks for the info Tom, I'll try and go there soon. Please post the IR photographs as well, curious to see how those have turned out.

As requested - there were only two of these that I wanted to post. There are probably more, but there were too many to process when I first sat down to sort them all out.

Although I spent my youth and part of my earlier adult life on the oceanfront side of the Old Dominion, I have traveled to the mountainous regions on many occasions. Images such as these make me feel homesick.

    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing Mr Slothead. I love the composition along with the dramatic sky of #4
