skellig islands monastery

    At this time of year you can't go out to the two pillars of rock on which monks built their monastery and home in the 7th century. But on this uncharacteristically sunny day we could see them. They are the two points of rock in the center right of the frame.

    Although I knew these sort of places existed I didn't know that any were so intact and I didn't know about this amazing one (having found on-site shots).

    Spuff,

    It was a rugged and beautiful area. My only regret was that I was not there in summertime so i could visit the site by boat.
