It's been a long time coming, and I've changed us over from vBulletin to Xenforo. I was planning to do this next year, but the longer we wait, the harder it will be, and I'm confident that these changes will improve the site experience for the members.

    What we gain:
    -Better mobile site
    -Faster performance
    -More secure
    -Cleaner design (IMO)
    -More stable software
-Better image handling (auto sizing, etc)

What is broken and will be fixed:
-HTML support in forum posts - high priority for me to fix
    -Subscriptions
    -Some smilies
-Buy/sell feedback (not lost, will be restored)
    -Other stuff (tell me)

    What is missing:
    -Right column Recent Discussions
-Ability to use templates to post in Buy & Sell
    -Ads
    -Other stuff (tell me)

Subscribing members, please cancel your recurring donations. To do so, go to the Profile drop-down menu at Paypal and select "My Money". Where it shows "pre-approved payments", click update at the right. Then select Virginia Sabet and select cancel.

The reason I'm asking this is that subscriptions don't carry over from the old software to this one. I have to figure out how to do subscriptions with this software. In the meanwhile, I figure that if everyone cancels payments now and I keep everyone's donor status active for a year from after everyone has been notified by email (not yet sent), then I'm not shorting anyone.

Maybe early teething problems Amin, but I'm struggling to login. Slow and I've been bounced out a few times. However, visual appeal is significantly improved.

May take a while to readjust, but it doesn't look bad. Had to redo forum links etc, since they aren't the same as before.

I just put up a new thread and it doesn't appear in New Posts, only Recent Posts, that seems a bit odd.

You can't stop progress. Thanks for the work.

Is there any way to add back viewing preferences? I liked to view threads with most recent at top and increase the number of posts per page. I know those things aren't popular choices, though.

New Posts are new to you. If you posted it, then it isn't new to you until someone else posts.

I'm still learning the software, so I don't know if that is user configurable. However, when viewing a list of threads, if you click the little orange circle to the left of the thread, it will take you to the first unread post, and if you click on the time of last post at the far right of the thread, it takes you to the last post.

Oh, and before anyone asks, yes I am planning to add a dark skin choice, and yes I am going to find a way to enable multi-quote ;).

What's the best practice for posting pictures that are in Flickr?

Just copy the BBcode that Flickr provides to your forum post here, same as before.

A nice option with the new software is to just click on the Upload a Photo button when you want to post a photo from your computer/device. It accepts any size image up to 50MB in size and resizes it for the forum post. This uses attachment storage, so it's not a replacement for posting from Flickr, but a handy option to have when you want to save time.

Do we still have the "Active" or "101 Active Discussions" option?

I'm having trouble finding it to re-link my bookmarks.

It's the "Recent Posts" link in the navbar near the top of the page.

Wow, this looks like an explosion at the forum factory. I am not opposed to a change, although I subscribe to other forums that use vBulletin and am used to its look, but this style looks so busy that it is giving me a headache. There is a lack of needed negative space and key items that I look for in posts are buried at best. And all of the little graphics look a bit comical and remind me of many low-budget forums from years past. I will probably adjust, or post less, but this is definitely not my style. It is just too difficult to read, scan and/or follow. I do not mean to sound negative, but I do believe that honest feedback is in order.

    Sorry,

    --Ken

My bad. Thanks for the quick reply. My brain is so used to looking at the old UI, I didn't even process that Recent Posts is what I was in.

There's a Tab titled 'New Profile Posts' under Recent Posts and New Posts which shows everybody's private messages to each other.

I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be.
