Seems a a nice performer, but it looks like a polished can of beans stuck on the camera. Yuk!

Thanks for the link! Looks like another winner from Sigma :)!

Would however love to know what the verdict says :p

Thankfully it comes in black as well!

Also, I'm not a fan of the smooth barrel design on the new DN lenses Sigma is putting out...focus/zoom rings have been ribbed for your pleasure for +/- 100 years for a good reason...they work much better than smooth designs!

When does this come out? Samples look good. And what's with the short hood? Looks like they cut corners and used the same hood from the 19 and 30.

Smooth barrel works fine. Looks weird to me too, but no issues.

Just remember to wash your hands once in a while.

Normally I could care less about the color thing (silver lens on black body or vice versa) but that smooth chrome look is hideous IMO.

Fair enough, I guess I should reserve final judgment until I handled one...but it just looks wrong haha. Plus, sometimes (for whatever reason) I focus/zoom with just one finger, so I do like the ribbing on lenses...who knows...wonder if the black one's going to look like crap with fingerprints...

Yeah, it's not the most flattering colour, especially when matched to a contrasting black body...

That is one shiney lens. Results look good, though. More nifty kit from Sigma.

In one of the photos (3rd photo down), it says that huge silver focus ring, turns and turns with no traction.. and is uncomfortable when changing lens.. :frown:

Let me give a go at this..

    Verdict
Sigma 60/2.8 overlaps with the Olympus 60/2.8.
Therefore, the decision will depend on what the user finds important. The Olympus 60/2.8 is for users who value macro shooting, the Sigma 60/2.8 is for users who value shooting subjects at a distance.
The Sigma's resolution is adequate for the use (as in shooting at distance).
For users who will shoot lots of macro shots, the Olympus lens is the obvious choice. For those who will not, the Sigma is the choice.
For those looking at value ($), the Sigma which costs about half of the Olympus, is the obvious choice.

So really nothing that important in their verdict

Seems to me that this shiny, smooth surface thing is a gimmick. As others have said, texture on the focus ring is important for usability and, TBH, I for one think the visual aesthetics of the design are a mess.

It looks like a fancy pepper mill :)

The smooth focus ring of the Sigma aside, I personally don't like the thin barrel of my Oly 60. It feels awkward and unbalanced when attached to the OMD
