These are from back in the summer. My partner and I were invited to a friend’s wedding at a local vineyard and we took advantage of the landscape to do an impromptu photo shoot. All photos taken with GX8 and Sigma 56mm f/1.4:

I've had this lens for awhile now but when doing portraits I came to a realization that you can have too MUCH bokeh. Never thought I'd have a problem like this with MFT

Once you back off or stop down , it renders beautifully..

Striking model and images. Your signature shows that you also own the 75mm f1.8 and 42.5 f1.7, so how does the experience shooting with the 56mm compare? I’m guessing working distance to the subject is more reasonable than the 75mm and the 1.4 provides options that the 42.5 f1.7 just cannot.

Yup more or less. I bought the 75 to give me more separation for full body shots than I could get with the 42.5 and it certainly did, but the working distance was a challenge. Once I got the 56 it replaced both of them for portraits. I might sell the 42.5 but I'm keeping the 75 because its an excellent long prime for those times when I need the longest fastest lens I have , eg at concerts etc. It's so sharp that there's no issue with cropping up to 40% to simulate the fov of longer focal lengths.

I find the 56mm to be the same - so sharp that I can crop and still get a good result at indoor/night events.
Yup here's another prime example. I was in Trench Town (Bob Marley's birthplace) and saw some boys playing football/soccer. I needed a longer lens but took a burst with the sigma anyways:

Another example of the OOF rendering of this lens...

BTW both these portraits were street setups in Downtown Kingston Jamaica. Took quite a few photos as I was trying out my outside cinematic portrait setup:

It depends what other lens you have .
I like to take 2 lens with me.
S56 fits with 25/30mm and O45 with 15/17mm.
I was thinking of changing O75 and O45 with one S56 but then I have to buy 25mm . With O17 and next S56 the gap is too big.

A few from last month's Carnaval in Funchal, Madeira. Low light, fast action (lots of dancing) and Madeirans having great fun.

I could not wait any longer for a used lens. This will replace my 45mm 1.8 nicely :) So bokehlicious
