Has anyone ever actually "worn out" a camera? Never saw that even in the film days when people didn't replace them every 20 minutes with the latest thing. OTOH, I saw a blogger recently who stated the EP-3 was not satisfactory for his use because he had to carry too many batteries because he typically shot 3000 pics per day when he went out to take pics.

So maybe you really could wear out a shutter eventually. I can't imagine taking 3000 (or even 300) shots in a day's shooting - that's SERIOUS spraying and praying - then trying to go through them and do any processing? It's totally beyond my comprehension.

I think that blogger might have a truth opinion regarding 3000 shutter/day, and of course what i'm trying to said that i had this 100k-150k lifecycle shutter on dslr and just wonder how about this mini dslr.

    Thanks for your share mik

Shooting 3000 pictures a day is pretty damn challenging. Assuming the blogger sleeps 8 hours, he would have to shoot over 3 pictures a minute for the remaining 16 hours, or 6 photos a minute for 8 straight hours. At that point, you're either:
    • Not enjoying your vacation because you're too busy taking pictures of it
    • a professional who would have a much bigger body with extended battery grips
    • mildly insane

A good friend of mine just had his D80 die on him on vacation in Thailand after 5 years and nearly 400k actuations (according to him). I've had my GF1 for 2 years and haven't broken 8000. If the expected life span is only 100k, I'm sure other things will fail before the shutter does (batteries mainly, or my love of the camera).

I lent my brother my E3 last year for the Renault World Series meet at Silverstone. He had the thing on high speed continuos and to be honest it sounded like a machine gunner a lot of the time, he went a bit crazy with it, lol. The total was something like 700 shots that day. Can't imagine taking 3000.
