EDIT TO ADD:
Cell phone photo tip; Try to keep your cell phone camera lens as smudged up as possible. For example, try checking the oil level in the boat and with your oily fingers try and smudge the lens before you hastily jam the phone in your pocket. That way you'll be ready to catch those spectacular sunrises with the added sunburst effect of a dirty lens.
