I've just dug these out from 2009 as we're planning a revisit to Southport sometime soon.
Looking at them again (and comparing them to several I've posted already on here)
it would appear that most of the newly built bridges are of the same suspension type design.
Whereas some of the existing ones (possibly even Victorian) have so much more character.

There is fashion in bridge design as well as in all sorts of design.
In 200 years our suspension bridges will look quaint and have character.

Have to use your imagination: "bridge that was" (opposite bridgehead area still visible on the other bank).
Destroyed in 1880 by ice floe.
