Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge that connects Charleston and Mount Pleasant, SC. It spans the Cooper River at a height of 180 feet to accommodate ocean-going container ships. The construction started in the mid-1990s by building around the existing steel-framed bridges, which was quite a feat and which we saw in 1993 and 1994.

In building the bridge, a wide pedestrian and bike lane was incorporated onto the oceanside. The bridge is 2.5 miles long and we walked over and back on October 28, 2019

The wife and I drove over this bridge over 10 years ago. We had a shot from the same general area there in Charleston, and what I believe was a Navy Destroyer was docked on the far side of the bay, so not just container ships can make it under! :)
