I've cycled the Bristol to Bath route a few times and have also done the Two Tunnels Route from Bath to Radstock.
Some lovely countryside out there and next time I hope to make it to Frome on the TT route.
Here's a pic from the TT route with road bridge crossing the old track and then a bit further on, the entrance to one of the tunnels, with another bridge over the entrance.
Cool!

Apologies to everyone else for the slightl OT ramble. I am hoping to cycle the Strawberry Line this Summer. That too is not far from here, although I won't be able to persuade my family to cycle to it, so it'll be a stick-the-bikes-on-the-roof-of-the-car job.

I have seen it said (can't verify the truth thereof) that the Bristol to Bath cycle track carries more people along it per year now, than it did through most of the 20th century as a railway. It's certainly often very busy, and my Bath-based colleagues use it to cycle commute to Bristol.

End of ramble. I'll try and find another bridge photo to post...

Here's a gorgeous bridge just outside Bath.
It's the Dundas Aqueduct, carrying the Kennet & Avon canal over the River Avon and also the Wessex Main Line railway.
It's even been classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Love the first one most!
The play of light and shadow makes it a Winner!
It really deserves to be printed large and hung on the wall!

Edit: If you can interpret the Wind generators arms as semaphore signals, you might have a name for the picture also! :)

Thanks, Bosse!

I have been thinking the same thing, that I would enjoy it printed large. Need to find some competent printshop in Oslo.

These footbridges are crossed literally millions times each year by the hordes of tourists visiting Bourton-on-the-Water, one of the picturesque Cotswold villages. It's sometimes known as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", with the serene River Windrush passing through the centre.

Here is a bridge in Mennonite country near Waterloo, Ontario (Canada). I was hoping to get a picture of the milky way over the river ... still too close to the city for that. But it's OK, I like this photo of the bridge which is no longer fit for vehicular traffic.

Cheers!

Rail bridge over the Don River
Sailing ships once plied that river up beyond the bridge which wasn't there then

Isn't it great how a photo (not even one's own) can bring back memories.

This pic has brought back two involving my son.

We stopped alongside the bridge for a picnic when he was a toddler and left him in the care of his grandad.
Thinking it was a bit quiet minutes later, we noticed he'd crawled onto the verge and was eating grass! :speechless:

And secondly, 20 or so years later when my son was at Sheffield Uni. we parked his car nearby while we went for a walk into the hills with him.
We returned to find windows smashed, his car broken into and his wallet and other items stolen. :crying:

Oh well, that's life.

Great pic though Phil.

Thanks Brian.
Sorry to hear about your sons car. Just goes to show there are scumbags everywhere, even in the Peak District
