Great shot of the AN225, probably the only runway long enough in that area: mind you it did used to accept Vulcans when it was RAF Finningley!:th_salute:
Vulcans only required about 2500mtr runway, Mirya needs 3500mtr to take off and 3300 myrs to land (fully loaded).

More of the An225 at Doncaster including a taxi shot to show the scale against an airport support vehicle.

A jet air tanker coming in for more retardant and fuel. Sadly 2 single engine air tankers (crop dusters) collided this same day, killing both pilots.

I was shooting wildlife moments before this Coast Guard plane came by, so I still had the electronic shutter on...and you can easily see the rolling shutter on propellers -

The original Hercules props were 4 bladed and square ended.

Those are high tech 6 blade variable pitch props. They really are curved on the leading edges.

An impromptu photo session with my friend Matt while he was departing the gliding field. Shot with EM1.2, I decided to go with the 12-40 but I should have kept the 40-150 on. Still pretty happy with the results even though it's a pretty heavy crop.

So.... I bought a Peak Design cuff, because the slide lite was pulling on my shoulder. I get a bit of stick from Mrs S. because, well, it is a bit bracelet like. However, it's easy to carry and I reassure her that I'll be primed and ready for action if "anything" happens.........

A few weeks later.......walking alongside Ladybower Reservoir, near Sheffield, right next to the dam wall, we hear a really loud noise but don't know where it's coming from. Suddenly, a bl**dy great beast of a plane comes around the corner of the reservoir, very close and low - like they were doing a Dambusters run (this is where they practiced during the war). Did I whip my cuffed-therefore-accessible camera to my eye and get a shot of this majestic plane as it angled over the reservoir? Did I boogery - the noise was so unexpected, loud and paralysing that by the time we'd gone "AAAAGH! wtf is that?!!" all I got was this as it flew off into the distance:

with the 14-42 kit lens at full stretch!

Someone with more knowledge of planes will hopefully enlighten us as to what kind of plane it is - but It seems to bear a passing resemblance to @Mountain_Man_79 's above - maybe they're cousins?!
