The first time I missed the sad rating. I hate to see these beautiful old airplanes waste away.
You know, I'm not sure it is the real deal, it may be a mock up.

The spinner is not smooth enough after the first step and there shouldn't be a kink on the top of the cooler on the cowling, it was a smoother curve than that and the corrosion looks like rust: aluminium goes to a whitish powder not red/brown.

The Star looks to be a decal rather than painted on; just my two coins worth.

I was looking at the top of the wing and how the metal has become uneven. I think it's the rea thing that is setting somewhere on display. It may have been painted/decaled to keep it fresh looking once upon a time.

Maybe @Acraftman will tell us!

I think I may have found the P40 in question:

If you look above the exhaust stacks I think you can see "Junkyard Dog"

Trawling the photo folders again and remembered these from last years Wiltshire holiday, taken from Old Sarum towards Old Sarum airfield.

A Cessna (?)

Edit: second shot is Cessna 150F (G-BSZV) and the second is a Piper PA-28-161 (G-BUFH)
I love this shot. I like the ground in the back instead of sky. Really cool.

Eleven Corsairs: what a sight and sound that must have been!
Andrew, I only count ten!
As you say the sound must have been awesome.
As I said Ten Corsairs! Thanks, Mike I was barely awake at the time!
We have a burglar in our midst. Who stole the 11th Corsair?

You'se guys is a hoot!

There were eleven there. One of the pilots was bouncing back and forth between a Corsair and a Mustang. (FWIW, I've decided he has the best job in the world). He didn't make the formation flying. I suppose he was probably too busy looking at himself in the mirror and telling himself what a lucky *@$&! he is.

Ok, which is it? the username is Andrew, the real name says Martin.

I am soooo confused!
Obviously I am too, as an oldish codger easily confused by different user names and real names. :bump:
Sorry Martin, must be past my bedtime. :)

There was one point when they were all flying abreast coming perpendicular to the flight line. It was a great visual, but they were so spread out taking a photo of any consequence was impossible. Here are some of them as they passed.

Just so as not to confuse Martin, there are seven in this photo. (sorry, couldn't resist!)
