I arrived at Historic Flight and the B-52 is still joined to its wings. The remaining bolts could not be loosened. The crew had given up at 1930 last evening and the cranes left. The next time the cranes will be available is in one week - so plenty of time to get those stubborn bolts out. The demolition of the 787 was going very quickly today. One mishap happened early this morning. While the big "hydraulic claw" was chewing on the left wing tip, the plane fell off of the cribbing support. This resulted in a crushed section of chain link fencing when the right wing came crashing down. After regrouping the demo crew attacked the hapless 787 with vigor. The scene resembled a T-Rex devouring a beached whale. I have laser eye surgery tomorrow morning so I will post photos and video links in the next couple of days.

Thanks to you guys I had a better idea what to set the shutter speed to when the opportunity arose again.

Here are a couple more of the helicopter. They will look a little different because I converted the above one from RAW to JPEG in camera and edited it on my phone. These I did on my computer, so the processing looks different.

As the left wing tip was being torn off, the airframe fell off of the timber cribbing and crushed the chain link fence with the right wing.

While I was waiting to shoot a seagull from the balcony, a much, much, bigger bird invited itself at really low altitude... Aéronavale Bréguet 1150 Atlantique 2 (you can see the face of the pilot and of an observer).
This is the OOC Jpeg taken with an E-M5.II and an O40-150/4-5.6 @f11 & 1/640th sec.

The wing removal operation was a success. This time the crew was prepared and everything went smoothly. Ford could have used this for an ad - Super Duty pickup tows B-52.

Space formally occupied by 787 #5. I did manage to find a few bits of carbon fiber skin and some metal fragments outside the fence.

Nice! That aircraft was at our local airport for an airshow last Summer, and I got a bunch of photos of it, both inside and out.

Its a beautiful aircraft and well cared for.

Inside shot with my grandsons in the pic.

This C-54 participated in the Berlin Airlift and is the only remaining flying C-54 from that mission.
