Fittingly, this is my first post and (quick) snapshot of my OM-D that I just picked up today with the PL25 1.4. I took it around town today and I'm still getting used to it, but I love it already! Great seeing other member's OM-D, it gives me inspiration to accessorize, haha.

What are your impressions of the grip? Does it help the handling significantly as it looks like it would? I'm just about to pull the trigger and order one myself so I'd love to know your thoughts.

Well, for all the hassle I went through to get it, it really is a nice piece. I've had RRS plates on all my cameras, and now have L-plates on both the Nikon V1 and the EM-5. I think they help protect the bottom and sides of the camera, and provide a bit more size/substance to hang onto. If shooting video using the LCD, the L-component becomes a left hand grip/stabilizer.
But the grip seals it for me. You might have to slightly alter the way you handle the camera, but no question that for me the grip is, if not essential, a significant enhancement. I would never use the full Olympus HLD-6, IMHO it almost defeats the "smaller camera" ethos. So I could pay $300 to use half of it, or $180 for the RRS. Quick and secure tripod mounting was way more important to me than an extra battery. And since my monopod and tripod both have RRS heads, pretty much a no brainer. FYI all access doors and LCD screen remain fully functional with it mounted. HTH.

I also like the RRS design with its grip wrapping around the camera body and its full length bottom plate a better design than JLM one. But I heard RRS is always short of stock, and the shipping cost outside of USA is a rip-off too
