Sorry for the not so good cell phone image. But anyway, here is my brand new EM5 II next to my first real camera from when I was a kid, the Canon A-1, which still works great. I personally prefer black cameras, but I think the silver OMD looks great too.

I've seen the mk II has a mottled/rougher surface (at least the black), like most other cameras. I really like the smooth surface on the old one. Are there any advantages or is it purely aesthetics?

I don't know if there's any advantage. But it looks better than in my crappy photo, for sure!

If you prefer black I doubt you'd be displeased with black EM5 II. It looks amazing IMO.

Here is a good photo (not mine, found on Google) showing the black mark I and II. See what you think:

My mk1 is black but I've always been a twinge jealous for the silvers I've seen. So when I ordered my mkII last week I opted for silver... And all black lenses :)

Can anyone comment if silver is more prone to showing wear, scratches, etc?

Should get here tomorrow I hope, I can't wait!

Those new dials are the bomb! They make the original mk. 1 dials look pretty pathetic.

Oh, I like it and I want it :) I just really like the smooth finish on the old one better.
The new design and layout looks much better though

I'm trying my hardest to NOT be tempted into getting an upgrade for my E-M5....since I'm waiting to upgrade my E-M1 ;);)

  16. The type of paint finish used on the E-M5 II, E-M1 and E-M5 Elite bodies is usually much harder wearing.

I have never been so attracted by a camera like I have with both E-M5s. I love them!
