My attempt at the supermoon. And a little different processing. I take pictures of the moon fairly frequently because I think it is fascinating, but they all look pretty much the same.

I need a better telephoto lens, I'm running into limits with what I can pull out from this setup.

And maybe that's a little bit of jpeg posterization I see, since I don't see that in the actual file before I turn it into a jpeg...

Tonight’s supposed “Stairway to the Moon” looked more like the “Eye of Sauron”...

The stairway works better if there isn’t a giant chunk of land on the horizon and it isn’t a blood moon...

I got the better lens (A Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 with a TC-2001, a Kenko Pro 300 1.4x then a Speedbooster Ultra for a combined 600mm) but I need to get better at my technique. Messy 6 shot stack at f/16 but with excessive blur in the shot. Usable at 50% for now...

Today I was sitting at my workplace, suddenly I saw the moon popping out from the clouds outside. So.... to make it structured:

1) I took a photo of the moon.
It turned out to become really lousy.

2) When I browsed photos I came up with the idea to have a better photo on the screen while I shoot both screen and real moon.
Got quite cool! But when I looked at that photo I thought why not repeat process....

3) Took a photo of the screen with last photo and real moon.
It was even cooler! :)

A quick experiment with the Canon 70-300II NanoUSM combined with the Kenko Pro 300 1.4x stacked with a plain tube on an Olympus MC-14... Surprisingly good wide open results at 588mm (~1176mm FoV).

Perhaps the MC-14 is a better performer of a TC than I thought it was (according to reviews anyways).

Was hoping more for a film-noir / horror movie view of the moon but an E-PM2 doesn't lend itself well to manual tweaking. Should have tried something with more manual controls and an adapted lens. Still, I kind of like it - its not a window I tend to look out of much but now I know I can frame the moon I'll keep a tripod handy.
